Protecting the civil liberties of citizens accused of a crime
Gabriel McCarthy’s job is to protect civil liberties, guide clients through the legal process, and help them understand the best paths for their particular cases. For years, he has helped both state and federal defendants do just that.
Mr. McCarthy is one of the most active trial attorneys in Boise and has tried more than 50 jury trials in state and federal courts, but his approach begins long before the trial date — it starts with his first conversation with the client. He offers pragmatic advice, strong attention to detail, and clear explanations. Throughout the process, his clients see the difference experience, reason, and persuasion can make in their cases.
His goal is to help clients navigate the judicial process so they can begin moving forward with their lives.
Mr. McCarthy purposefully keeps his caseload small: He focuses on the best possible outcomes for his clients, and that involves time, attention to detail, and consistent communication. His approach has served him well while arguing more than 50 jury trials and appeals before the Idaho State Court of Appeals, the Idaho Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals.
Mr. McCarthy is a former prosecutor and has been in private practice for seven years. He works in both state and federal courts, including as conflict counsel for Ada County and as a CJA panel attorney.
